Tardiness Policy

Lake Gibson High School has a tardy policy that all students will adhere to. The first bell rings at 6:40 a.m. to signal the students to head to the first period. The students are tardy at 7:00 a.m. The announcements and the pledge start promptly at 7:00 a.m. We have designated the first 5 minutes of the first period (homeroom) for announcements and the pledge. However, the students MUST be in their classrooms by 7:00 a.m. sharp! All 1st period tardy students MUST report to an Administrator to receive a tardy slip to enter class. The students have 6 minutes to report to all other periods to transition to their classes. If any student is tardy they will report to the learning center for that period. After four visits to the learning center, the student will receive a referral for excessive tardiness.

Student Identification Badges

Polk County Public Schools has mandated that all 6 – 12th grades will be required to were a student identification badge.

The initial student identification badge will be provided to all students at no cost to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff.  Students will also be provided a lanyard to wear the ID badge around their necks.

Anytime a student forgets or misplaces their ID badge, they will be sent to the Dean’s office to get a replacement badge.  The cost of each replacement badge is $5.00.  If a student is unable to pay for the badge at the time, they will be given a badge and placed on the obligation list.
